Jim Carrey just revealed the hilariously candid reason for his return to Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
After previously declaring that he was retiring from acting on big screen, despite a really successful career in the 80s, 90s as well as the early 2000s, the Dumb and Dumber star has now been quite selective of the roles he takes on.
Revealing the reason behind taking up the 2020 film’s follow up project, he told Associated Press at the film’s London premiere, “That might’ve been hyperbole, yeah.”
“I came back to this universe because I get to play a genius, which is a bit of a stretch. And you know, I bought a lot of stuff and I need the money, frankly,” Carrey noted with a laugh.
Previously, when the Hollywood star was promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 2, back in 2022, the 62-year-old mentioned how he was contemplating on leaving acting as a whole.
Speaking to Access Hollywood he told the outlet at that time, “Well, I’m retiring. Yeah, probably. I’m being fairly serious.”
“It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink, that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road,” the Ace Ventura actor explained.
“But I’m taking a break,” Jim Carrey had stated back then.
