James Norton recently got candid about turning down a certain role because he didn't want to be typecast.
The 39-year-old actor in an interview with The Mirror told how he decided not to take on the villain role in his new mini series Playing Nice.
Norton, who is rumoured to be playing the next James Bond after Daniel Craig, went on to say, “You do a Second World War drama.”
He added, “And you get to go and be a historian in the British Library for however long and have an emotional connection with that particular piece of history.”
Norton said that if one does it really well, then he is going to get a few more offers for Second World War dramas coming your way.
“And the brave thing is to say no to those and think, ‘Okay, right, we're going to go a different route and try and keep learning, keep expanding’,” the actor said.
His remarks about being stereotyped comes after Craig shared a similar concern about being typecast after portraying the 007 role in the film series.
Craig in a special episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatterpodcast was asked if he “felt anxious” about being typecast in the future when he took on the role of James Bond.
To which the 56-year-old actor responded, “Absolutely. That’s why I initially declined — I actually said, ‘No’.”
