Dolly Parton reveals no red-carpet dates rule with husband Carl Dean

Dolly Parton just revealed why her husband, Carl Dean has not attended event with her, despite their 58-year long loving marriage.

In her latest appearance on the Bunnie XO’s podcast, Dumb Blonde, the 78-year-old country music legend explained how her husband “loves” music.

However, he is “not the least bit interested in being in it.”

Recalling back in 1967, when the Jolene singer convinced Carl to join her in an award show when she bagged the BMI Song of the Year, early on her career, despite the achievement, her “homebody” husband had something to say.

“I wish you the best, but don’t ever ask me to go to another one of these damn things because I ain’t going,” Dolly told Jelly Roll’s wife, adding that, after that, Carl actually never did go to any event afterwards.

The couple, who renewed their vows in 2016, at their Nashville residence, rely on their similar sense of humor to keep the spark of their decades long marriage, alive.

Dolly Parton spoke very fondly of her husband when she stated, “He’s quiet and I’m loud, and we’re funny…we have a lot of fun. Anytime [there is] too much tension going on, either one of us can like, find a joke about it to really break the tension, where we don’t let it go so far.”
