Mariah Carey achieves major milestone with holiday anthem

Mariah Carey just got another reason to cheer this holiday season.

On Friday, Spotify announced that the pop star’s festival anthem, All I Want for Christmas Is You, that was released almost three decades ago, is now the first holiday song to cross the 2 billion streams milestone.

In a conversation with PEOPLE magazine, expressing her sentiments over the achievement, Carey stated, “This is beyond incredible. I’m honored to have All I Want For Christmas Is You be the first holiday track on Spotify to reach 2 Billion Streams!”

The Emotions singer continued, “I’m so grateful to all Spotify listeners around the world who’ve made the song part of their holiday tradition year after year.”

As per Spotify, the track by the 55-year-old songstress is now the most-streamed holiday song of all time in both the US as well as the rest of the countries around the world.

Mariah Carey’s universal holiday song, All I Want for Christmas Is You, has been the number one track on Spotify, globally, each Christmas Day, every year, since 2016 and is also one of the best-selling singles of all time.
