‘Bridgerton' star Nicola Coughlan candidly reflects on her boldest role yet

Nicola Coughlan, a famous Irish actress, recently got candid and opened up about her mother’s reaction regarding her Bridgerton s**** scenes.

The 37-year-old actress appeared on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, December 13, with former star of James Bond movies Daniel Craig and actors Kieran Culkin and Jesse Eisenberg.

While having a conversation, Coughlan revealed that depicting the character of an adult was “strange” for her.

Shedding light on her character in Bridgerton, the Barbie actress went on to explain, saying she felt a “baptism of fire” while performing as a romantic lead in the third season.

In one scene, her character Penelope Featherington strips naked ahead of an extremely bold shot with Luke Newton’s character, Colin Bridgerton.

The scene shocked her mother so much that Coughlan went to the show’s screening without her.

She quipped, “I was 35 and I realised I had never played an adult, and I was like, ‘How do I do this?’”

“It was then so weird having to play the romantic lead and getting up to s**** things. My mother was so mad at me about those scenes—as if they were my fault, so I didn't go to the screening with her!” the star of Seize Them highlighted.

According to Daily Mail, fans were told the third season of Bridgerton would be the “steamiest season yet.”

The season focused on Penelope and Colin’s journey from friends to lovers, with one scene standing out.

In the scene, Colin comforts Penelope after she argues with her mother about her engagement, and they start getting intimate.

It is pertinent to mention that the first four episodes of Bridgerton season 3 were released on May 16, 2024, while the final four episodes premiered on June 13, 2024, on Netflix.
