King Charles has taken a big step to strengthen his reign amid speculations the monarch is planning to abdicate for his elder son Prince William.
The King is said to be considering to make a historic announcement about his abdication, and Prince William and Kate Middleton will be the king and queen much sooner than anyone imagined.
Speaking to the In Touch Weekly, per OK!, the royal sources claimed, “The whispers that Charles is planning to step down are growing louder,” and the past few months have been “particularly rough.”
“Insiders expect a historic announcement to be made around Christmastime,” the report also claimed.
Amid these speculations, King Charles has decided to appoint top diplomat as deputy private secretary.
According to the Daily Mail, King Charles is beefing up his team at Buckingham Palace with a significant new appointment.
The report further says, Theo Rycroft, currently deputy head of mission in Paris, has been appointed as King Charles deputy private secretary, one of the most senior positions in the royal household and one that wields considerable influence.
Theo Rycroft’s role as the King’s ‘gatekeeper’ will see him advise the monarch on both his public work and private family matters.
