Oprah Winfrey gives Gayle King near heart attack with birthday surprise

Oprah Winfrey shocked her best friend Gayle King recently with a room full of guests ahead of her 70th birthday.

Winfrey, also 70, dropped a hilarious moment from the epic birthday bash on Instagram, capturing King's candid reaction as she walked into the venue.

In the video, King can be seen jumping back in surprise when greeted by cheers from her loved ones.

The video then cut to a room full of guests singing a birthday jingle while King remained in a state of shock.

“My bestie of 50 years is turning 70 so we gathered everyone that loved her to celebrate,” Winfrey wrote in the post's caption. “Hard thing to surprise her, O the stories we have made up, the lies we have told to keep this a secret."

"Happy birthday @gayleking, sorry we almost gave you a heart attack," she added, referring to King, whose actual birthday falls on December 28.

Earlier this year, Winfrey rang into the same milestone birthday on January 29 with a rather low-key celebration.

Winfrey marked her 70th birthday with a jog along the beach, which she documented to later share on Instagram.

“Celebrating 70 with a run on the beach. #healthisthebestgift. Thank you for all the birthday love,” she captioned the video.
