WhatsApp is working on an exciting new update that will enhance the Updates tab interface and improve users' accessbility for status and channel updates.

According to WABetaInfo, the new update introduces quick shortcuts that make the process of updating statuses and channels more streamlined.

The new shortcuts enable users to select and upload photos and videos directly from the interface, simplifying the process of choosing media from the gallery and uploading it in a lesser number of steps.

Additionally, the Meta-owned instant-messaging app has added a redesigned button for creating text-based status updates and an option for recording and sharing voice status updates.

This feature provides a simpler and faster way for users to share text and voice updates without the need to rely on the floating action button.

Both of these options are integrated into a modernised interface that aligns visually with recent updates made to other tabs, making it easier for users to navigate and create updates seamlessly.

WhatsApp is also tweaking the floating action button within the Updates tab to allow users to share content within channels.

Upon selecting the floating action button, users will see several options, including options to create status updates, start new channels, or share photos, videos, voice, and text in their existing channels, provided they have already created one.

This redesign consolidates all options for creating status updates and channel content into a single and unified section.

Although the new shortcuts are set to be rolled out to more people over the coming weeks, beta testers can currently explore them in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.26.13 update, which is available on the Google Play Store.
