Dua Lipa’s highly anticipated concert special, An Evening With Dua Lipa, is set to air Sunday on CBS.
The pop sensation described the show as one of her “favorite performances ever” and revealed the meticulous preparation behind it.
According to Deadline, the special, filmed at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on October 17, features reimagined versions of hits from Lipa’s latest album Radical Optimism and previous works, including tracks like Don’t Start Now, Love Again, Levitating, and her Grammy-nominated Barbie anthem, Dance The Night.
Legendary artist Elton John will be joining Lipa for their duet Cold Heart, while she will be performing Be The One from her debut album and a cover of Sunshine.
Moreover, the performance, crafted with the Heritage Orchestra, offers an emotional and darker take on her music as Lipa explained, “When you strip down a song and change it, it becomes more vulnerable. I wanted a richness and depth to every track—almost like creating a film score.”
As per the publication, the special also highlights deeply personal moments, including a reunion with Ray, her teacher from the Sylvia Young Theatre School, whose advice to embrace life outside her comfort zone continues to inspire her career.
In regards to this, she shared, “It’s about having the confidence to dream big, even when it’s nerve-wracking.”
Meanwhile, the preparation for the concert involved months of orchestral arrangements and a rigorous rehearsal schedule, which Lipa described as a “Royal Albert Hall boot camp.”
For the performance, she donned two elegant gowns, one by Jean Paul Gaultier and another by Chanel, marking her departure from her usual high-energy stage wear.
Furthermore, Lipa praised Elton’s presence at the concert, saying his support gave her an extra boost of confidence as she said, “Elton is the perfect person to hold my hand through a performance at such an iconic venue.”
It is worth mentioning that An Evening With Dua Lipa, the singer continues to showcase her evolution and talent as an artist.
