Amanda Holden just got defensive.

After her hosting debut of the Royal Variety Performance, she took to her official Instagram account to defend the gig amid online criticism that she received over her show.

The veteran judge for Britain's Got Talent shared the stage alongside her best pal Alan Carr, presenting the annual charity event, however just a few minutes in and social media users were quick to slam the duo.

Defending her efforts and performance she gave a piece of her mind to the neigh-sayers despite being aware of the fact that she should, ideally, “ignore it.”

Explaining how she and Alan “loved every second” of their time on stage, Holden stated, “But it seems the same headlines literally word for word appear EVERY year…. For whoever hosts @royalvarietyperformance - (Bradley Walsh got the stick last year ).”

Taking a dig at how the entire scenario even made headlines, the German-American actress penned, “So sad as it’s an honour to host this wonderful CHARITY event. This journalism is unspirited and awful to wake up to after such a joyous and successful evening.”

Ending on a note of positivity and optimism, Amadna Holden concluded, “All the big shows get battered… Merry Christmas you lovely lot. Our ratings were brilliant so that’s what counts xx.”
