Pat Casey, the co-writer of Sonic 3, recently got candid and opened up about Jim Carrey’s dual role in the film.
Casey took to his X account (previously Twitter) on December 18 and articulated his thoughts by saying, “Jim Carrey deserves an Oscar nom for Sonic 3. That's right, I said it.”
Since Carrey played two roles in the movie, someone jokingly asked the writer which character he should receive a nomination for.
The 46-year-old author answered, “Good point. He should be nominated twice.”
Moreover, while having a conversation with Games Radar about his character, The Mask actor explained why he wanted to play a character like Robotnik after avoiding sequels and franchises for so long.
The 62-year-old star quipped, “Maybe six months before the first Sonic movie, I thought to myself I’d like to have a character that I could sit with for a bit for a few films. Especially if it could evolve, if it could change from film to film.”
"Robotnik has been able to evolve in his look and his manner from film to film. Every time he gets defeated, he becomes more bitter and hostile. His megalomania gets ratcheted up, and these inventions, the technological wonders that he keeps coming up with, keep topping themselves,” Carrey concluded by saying.
It is pertinent to mention that Sonic 3 will be released in theatres on December 20 in the US and December 21 in the UK.
