Good friends Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan reunited at the BFI Southbank in London and caught up about their new work and future aspirations.

Chalamet discussed his portrayal of Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s upcoming musical biopic A Complete Unknown. The Dune star revealed that there was a “whole war on the movie” to decide if he should sing the songs live or use prerecordings.

“I was in the camp that wanted to do it live because it’s folk music and Bob Dylan was certainly matching his voice. So, I didn’t want to be matching me, mimicking Bob Dylan in a studio in L.A. 6 months before we shot,” said Chalamet. “When that song went well [Song to Woody], I felt like I had a green light to work with the music team on the movie to always do it live.”

“Edward Norton was always in my ear saying ‘You sound better live, do it live,’ which was good ammo,” he said of his co-star.

During their reunion, Ronan was asked which movie genre she wants to explore next, she replied, “A musical,” and went on to joke that that musical is Wicked.

“I can’t stop thinking about Wicked. I love it so much,” the Blitz star claimed.

“Maybe an original,” she shared. “I would like to do a biopic on someone, but I’m not going to say who it is because I don’t want someone to steal it.”

The duo also gushed about getting along right away when the met the first time at Lady Bird director Greta Gerwig’s apartment.

Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan have co-starred in Greta Gerwig’s Ladybird (2017) and Little Women (2019) and became instant pals.
