Ryan Reynolds was honored with the Order of Canada by the Canadian government.

Mary Simon, the Governor General of Canada announced the list of new appointees to the Order of Canada, on Wednesday, December 18, which also includes the Deadpool & Wolverine actor.

"Ryan Reynolds has captivated audiences worldwide, notably writing, producing, and starring in the widely successful Deadpool films," the statement read.

The official release further said about the Vancouver native, who currently resides in New York, "Off-screen, he supports Canadian causes including Water First Education, Covenant House Vancouver and SickKids Foundation, and co-founded initiatives to increase opportunities for under-represented groups."

"His far-reaching philanthropy continues to strengthen communities nationwide," it concluded.

Reynolds, who was previously awarded with the Order of British Columbia from his home province, took to his official X account to express his gratitude for the honor.

"Canada, you’ve given me more than I could ever repay," he wrote.

"Thank you for this incredible honor — I promise to use my powers for good ... and general whimsy. @GGCanada," the 48-year-old actor added.
