King Charles is said to have taken a surprise decision regarding the future of his estranged son, Prince Harry, and “disgraced” brother, Prince Andrew.
As per latest reports, the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of York are set to retain their positions as Counsellors of State within the Royal family, despite no longer being working members.
While Harry stepped down as senior working Royal in 2020 alongside his wife Meghan Markle, Andrew stepped back from his royal duties in 2019 in the wake of the controversy surrounding his links to Jeffrey Epstein.
However, they remain Counsellors of State due to their positions in the line of succession and being over 21.
According to a royal insider, Charles took the decision not to strip their titles as he does not want to exacerbate “family tensions further."
"His Majesty does not want to exacerbate family tensions further,” they said, as per GB News. "By nature, he is a unifier, not a divider."
It comes after Andrew decided not to attend the pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace, after his links to a Chinese spy were exposed.
