The late Queen Elizabeth reportedly did not have a warm relationship with Meghan Markle, especially after her marriage in 2018.

Royal author Tom Bower brought out the exclusive in his book Revenge that the Suits actress "annoyed" the Queen by wearing a veil on her wedding day.

"The Queen also questioned why Meghan needed a veil for the wedding, given it was to be her second marriage," the writer revealed.

Her outfit was believed to be breaking royal protocol because it was said to be a tradition among royals that those who married for the second time do not opt for the veil, according to The Sun.

Queen Camilla, for example, stuck to the unwritten rule when she crossed the aisle with King Charles in 2005.

To give further insight, Lady Elizabeth Anson, who was considered close to the Queen, told Ingrid Seward, a royal expert, "In the monarch's view, it was not appropriate for a divorcee getting remarried in church to look quite so flamboyantly virginal."

On the other hand, Meghan had a vision for her wedding outfit. She previously described it by saying, "I had a very clear vision of what I wanted for the day and what I wanted the dress to look like.

"So what was amazing in working with Clare [Waight Keller] is that sometimes you'll find designers try to push you in a different direction."

"But she just completely respected what I wanted to see for the day, and she wanted to bring that to life for me," she concluded.
