Green Day just admitted that no one may be close to rivaling The Rolling Stones.

The legendary rock band has wide spread influence in the field of music as well as listeners with impeccable records like Exile on Main Street or Sticky Fingers.

Their impact over modern music bands like Aerosmith and Green Day, remains evident in their musical composition.

Rising to prominence in the 1990s with hits like Basket Case and American Idiot, Green Day started moving towards mainstream rock as they progressed from their punk rock tracks.

However, as 2010 rolled by, the group seemed to be facing a decline in popularity that they countered in 2012, by releasing a trilogy of albums, titled, ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tre!

Lead vocalist, Billie Joe Armstrong, who named The Rolling Stones as the band’s inspiration for the trilogy, he noted, “I always wanted ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tre! to be our power-pop Exile on Main Street,” comparing their work to The Stone’s popular project.

Further speaking to Rolling Stone, the Green Day musician admitted, “I understand it sounds a bit stiff, and the production isn’t great. I love those songs, but a lot of it feels half-baked. It was a weird time.”

“I sort of had my own private nervous breakdown. Well, it wasn’t really private. I think it was just a lot of exhaustion,” he added.

However, as hard as it would be for anyone to match The Rolling Stones, Billie Joe Armstrong did point out the positives of the trilogy, stating, “There’s, like, 36 songs on that album. It’s insane. But when I revisit it, ‘Fell for You’ is what stands out. I was listening to a lot of power-pop music.”
