Martin Short brings out Tom Hanks, Paul Rudd for 'SNL' airport parade

Saturday Night Live’s CIBO Express Christmas Week Airport Parade featured Tom Hanks and Paul Rudd, while Martin Short hosted the Christmas episode.

Bowen Yang and Ego Nwodim played hosts Umberto and Agent Chartreuse Hamilton respectively at the airport for the parade, sharing live footage from Terminal C at Newark Liberty International Airport.

“It’s chaos, it’s mayhem, and everyone’s afraid,” they said. “It’s the Christmas Week Airport Parade!"

“Good evening from Newark,” exclaimed Nwodim, “which is how you say ‘New York’ if you’re on pills, which I am.”

She asked: “Umberto, who can we expect to see on the parade route this year?”

Umberto teased “some new appearances,” and assured return of “some old classics.”

Meanwhile, Martin Short played “Kenton Bean, the overly aggressive Delta Lounge employee,” who bars even Paul Rudd from entering the lounge which boasts “the most beautiful buffet you’ve ever been to, if you’ve never been to a buffet.”

After introducing a flyer “edible kicked in too early” and a “white woman who’s somehow going to make the flight about her,” and more flyers, Umberto and Chartreuse introduce Captain Sully (Tom Hanks).

Sully quips: “I’m here to introduce the grand finale, so let’s see if I can land this plane.”

However, his joke goes unnoticed by the audience and he looks around in anticipation of laughter, then adds: “I’m sorry I thought there would be a round of applause.”

Saturday Night Live’s Christmas episode was hosted by Only Murders in The Building star Martin Short.
