Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been receiving scathing criticism over their 2024 Christmas card with a royal expert suggesting it looks like a “business card.”
Speaking on TalkTV, royal commentator Rupert Bell said the Sussexes tried “too hard” to “stay relevant” after they shared snaps of their international trips on the Christmas card.
The card, which also featured a photo of the couple’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, included a message wishing recipients a "happy holiday season."
"On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archewell Productions, and Archewell Foundation, we wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful New Year,” the Sussexes’ Christmas card read.
The expert said the phrase they used on the card is "very American," and added that it came across as promotional and attention-seeking.
"Happy Holidays is a very American thing to do, so it would suggest that it was Meghan who had the call on that. It almost looks like a business card,” Bell said.
“Why couldn't they just put one with their family? Just like everybody else? The King hasn't put a picture of him being in Australia,” he added.
“They're just trying to show 'look at us, we're still relevant'. It's trying too hard, in my eyes, in what this card says."
