'Dune: Prophecy' star Jodhi May explains Natalya's THAT finale act

Dune: Prophecy star Jodhi May has explained what went on in her character Natalya’s mind when she made a deadly decision in the finale of season 1.

Spoiler alert: The following passages contain spoilers for the finale of Dune: Prophecy season 1.

Natalya’s marriage to Emperor Javicco Corrino (Mark Strong) was strained from the beginning of the story, and her dislike for the Bene Gesserit sisterhood evident. In the finale, she sees an opportunity and kills her husband's mistress Sister Francesca (Tabu).

When asked about the unexpected chance and the removal of both Corrino and Francesca from Natalya’s way, Jodhi explained to Collider: “She couldn't have foreseen what she was going to encounter in that room when she entered and saw Javicco on the floor dying, essentially. It's an act that's not necessarily premeditated, but the opportunity was there and she took it. It's more about, again, attacking the Sisterhood rather than any individual."

“Your guess is as good as mine as to where that leads, but I can't see Natalya being somebody who would be happy to be... well, it's a decisive character who's making a pretty decisive decision, and it feels like a major coup that really gives her the potential to have a decisive role in terms of the Imperium going forward,” she added.

Dune: Prophecy builds a narrative 10,000 years before the Dune movies and has been renewed by Max for a second season.
