Brian May just revealed where he derived his musical success from!
The 77-year-old, who is unarguably one of the greatest guitarists in the field of music, had a conversation with Leona Graham on her podcast, where he was asked what music has he always liked.
“I think most of all, Buddy Holly and the Crickets. I was just blown away, I still am, I still get chills up the spine when I hear like Maybe Baby,” he responded, also naming one of his favourite songs.
May, recalling what fascinated him in the song, continued, “It was so breathtakingly new, but also had this haunting beauty with those harmonies. And I've done my own versions of some of those songs, but they're always there inside me.”
“Buddy Holly had a very short career. He had like two and a half years of being a rock star. But the melodies he delivered during that time and the whole vibe of this rock music was, to me, immortal. And it's definitely still part of what I do,” Brian May further noted, as he discussed Buddy Holly, one of the central figures of rock ‘n’ roll in the 1950s and 60s.
