Nicole Kidman’s latest film, Babygirl, has officially hit theatres in the U.S., gathering praise from both critics and audiences.
The 57-year-old Australian actress stars as Romy, a high-powered New York business executive who gets involved with her younger intern, played by Harris Dickinson.
According to Daily Mail, currently holding a 79% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Babygirl has been lauded for its bold storytelling and Kidman’s standout performance.
Moreover, Sheila O’Malley of Rogerebert.com praised the actor's portrayal of Romy, calling it “a high-wire act” and hailing the film as a “small miracle” for its execution.
Meanwhile, Richard Roeper of The Chicago Sun-Times described Kidman’s performance as “powerful”, highlighting her ability to convey both strength and vulnerability.
The film, directed by Halina Rejin, explored themes of desire, infidelity, and power dynamics, with a particular focus on female pleasure.
While speaking to Vanity Fair, the actress admitted feeling exposed during the filming process by calling it one of her most vulnerable roles.
As per the publication, fans have also praised the film on social media as one viewer wrote, “It’s such a good movie for real,” while another penned, “Love the movie! Can't wait for part two!”
Furthermore, Babygirl is set to premiere in Australian cinemas in January 2025.
