Dave Grohl just names one of his music inspirations.
Undoubtedly, he is one of the musicians who has crafted many rock and roll anthems however, he has admitted that nothing was cooler than listening to a particular tune back when he was a teenager.
The Foo Fighters founder has always been vocal of his love for The Zombies as well as The Beatles, that eventually and inevitably inspired tracks like Big Me and Learn to Fly, from Grohl.
Additionally, he did also see many drumming legends and icons as his idols too that made him rather less hesitant to develop tunes that were beyond lyricism, particularly seen when he was technician in Nirvana, also fueled by the likes of Led Zeppelin and Rush for melody inspirations.
However, Frankenstein, by Edgar Winter, who is commonly known for the track Free Ride, was Grohl’s go-to, an impeccable riff of the 1970s.
“I f***in’ wore that thing out. And only that song,” he said of Frankenstein.
“I couldn’t give a s*** about anything else on that record; it was just all about Frankenstein. An instrumental, you know? No lyrics, just f***in’ soloing. I thought it was the coolest thing I’d ever heard. I was so into it,” Dave Grohl admitted.
