John Stamos almost became the Grinch in the beloved 2000 Christmas favorite How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Stamos revealed the fact during an appearance on the ‘Tis The Grinch Holiday Podcast, which features Saturday Night Live cast member James Austin Johnson as the cynical character.

The Full House star told the Grinch that he auditioned to play him but couldn’t go all the way because he had an allergic reaction to the prosthetics. The iconic part ultimately went to Jim Carrey.

"Hey, you know, I have something. Here's an interesting fact you don't know about me," Stamos told the Grinch.

"Shoot," replied Johnson’s Grinch.

"I was originally going to play you in the movie that Jim Carrey got. Did you know that? I went to the makeup test. And I was allergic to, you know, all the prosthetics," he added.

John Stamos then asked if he liked Carrey’s portrayal of him, and the green character replied: "You know, they brought me in a couple days to do some consulting. I was a little triggered walking around the set, just cause it's like, you know, when they build an exact replica of your neighborhood and you're walking around but you know that you're on a soundstage in freaking Burbank. It's like, it's a little eerie."
