ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has contacted Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim to discuss the security of election candidates’.
According to Election Commission Secretary, President Zardari has asked the CEC to contact the provincial governments personally regarding the security issue.
The secretary said that a meeting regarding the election security plan will be held on April 25 and would be attended by representatives from the provincial governments, Interior and Defence Ministries. The deployment of the army during the elections will be discussed and finalised during the meeting.
The Election Secretary added that an ordinance regarding voting facilities for overseas Pakistanis would be completed in two days. The printing of ballot papers will commence from Friday and would be completed by April 30.
