King Charles, Queen Camilla break silence on 'deadliest' plane crash

King Charles and Queen Camila break their silence on the plane crash in South Korea.

The crash occurred on December 29, 2024, when a Jeju Air passenger plane, carrying 181 people skidded off the runway at Muan International Airport.

The aircraft reportedly slammed into a concrete wall and exploded into flames.

In the statement released on Sunday afternoon, the King of the United Kingdom stated, “My wife and I were profoundly saddened to learn of the horrific air accident at Muan, which resulted in such grievous loss of life.”

"As the people of the Republic of Korea mourn this disaster, the families and loved ones of all the victims are in our prayers," Charles stated further.

The horrific crash has reportedly left 179 people dead, including 85 women, 84 men, and 10 are not identifiable. The youngest victim was just three years old.

According to reports it is suggested that a bird strike caused a system failure, with witnesses reporting explosions and flames from one of the engines.

It is worth mentioning that this crash is one of the "deadliest" in South Korea’s aviation history, as per The Sun.
