Oprah Winfrey shares behind-the-scenes from BFF Gayle King's 70th birthday

Oprah Winfrey is pulling out all the stops to spoil her best friend Gayle King on her 70th birthday.

Winfrey, 70, previously threw King a surprise birthday bash two weeks in advance, which had the birthday lady jump back in shock when she was greeted by cheers from dozens of guests.

Winfrey had one more surprise left which she threw on King's actual birthday that falls on December 28.

Taking to Instagram, Winfrey shared a candid video from the recent bash, surprising the CBS News journalist again with a room full of friends who clapped and sang their own lively Happy Birthday jingle.

King previously spoke of the earlier December 14 surprise two days later on Sherri, revealing how Winfrey forced her to come to "holiday work dinner" despite King grunting about it.

King added that she attempted to reschedule the dinner so she could attend a "very important black-tie dinner" instead but Winfrey remained presistent.

King added that seeing her “favorite son Will" there made her sense that something was up.

“I'd seen Will earlier,” King recalled, referring to her 37-year-old son. “He was in town. He had taken a plane to go home, or so I thought. I was so thrown by that, thinking, you know, you're trying to process that.”

“Then, I see [my] favorite daughter Kirby and her husband,” she recalled of her 38-year-old daughter. “Like, what are they doing [here]? You know, her husband had made partner… So they were in New York celebrating, and they said that they had left earlier in the day.”

“So my mind couldn't comprehend it — even when they said 'surprise' — thinking what surprise," King continued.

King also explained why Winfrey went all the way to surprise her in advance at the expense of King's other plans.

"It was only when they sang 'Happy Birthday.' My birthday is December 28. It's between Christmas and New Year's. Nobody wants to celebrate with you on those particular times because it's right in the middle of your holiday plans so I was really fine with that.”

“My three sisters were there and their kids and their husbands. I don't even know how to express the gratitude that I feel," she added.
