The cast of Squid Game season 2 got "really sick" after one particularly exhausting scene.

Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk shared that the cast found it “hard to breathe” filming a scene with a room full of sand.

In Squid Game season 2, Seong Gi-hun returns to the games in hopes to end the deadly competition for good.

In the said scene, the players formed groups of five and completed tasks in the room full of sand.

"That was the only game where participants root for each other. I thought, if we can increase the opportunities for people to support and root for each other, society will get better,” Hwang told The Wrap.

He noted how exhausting the scene was for the cast, saying, "Every time one group did a run around, [the set] was completely filled with dust, and it was hard to breathe. Everyone got really sick.”

Hwang also explained the cliffhanger ending of the new season which has left fans frustrated.

"Of course, those watching would feel like, 'Oh, no. What's going to happen next? Give us the next episode right now'," he told Entertainment Weekly

Hwang then explained the reason he chose to end Squid Game season 2 abruptly, saying, "But I think that because, at that moment, Gi-hun loses everything, he fails all of his attempts, that is when he goes through yet another character transition. So I thought that was the best place to end the season."
