Will Ferrell surprised fans by bringing back Buddy the Elf from 2006 comedy 'Elf'

Will Ferrell brought back Elf character Buddy the Elf in an hilariously unexpected manner.

The Daddy’s Home star attended the hockey game between the Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers on December 29, and surprised people by dressing up as his iconic character from the 2003 Christmas comedy.

Ferrell even answered FanDuel Sports Network broadcaster Carrlyn Bathe’s questions as the character.

He told her that “it was a tough holiday season” and “he’s looking for a Kings win.”

This comes after he revealed earlier this year that his co-star James Caan, who played his biological father in the film, didn’t think his performance in the movie was funny.

“James Caan, may he rest in peace, we had such a good time working on that movie,” he recalled during an appearance on the Messy podcast.

“He would tease me. I like to do bits but I’m not like ‘on’ all the time. In between set ups, [Caan] would be like, ‘I don’t get you. You’re not funny.’ And I’m like, ‘I know. I’m not Robin Williams.’ And he was like, ‘People ask me: “Is he funny?” And I’m like, “No, he’s not funny.”‘ It was all with love but at the same time…”

However, seeing Elf at the premiere, Caan had a change of heart about Will’s acting.

“‘I’ve got to tell you: I thought everything you were doing while we were filming was way too over the top. Now that I see it in the movie, it’s brilliant,’” Will Ferrell remembered him saying.
