Cher revealed how Gene Simmons would disguise himself when the two were dating.
In the autobiography of the 78-year-old songstress, titled, Cher: The Memoir, Part One, her relationship with the 75-year-old KISS rock star is detailed, whom she dated from 1977 to 1979.
Back when they went out in Los Angeles, Cher pointed out how much less makeup Gene wore when he wasn’t on stage.
And since his persona on KISS was popular due to its dramatic yet monochromatic look, it was easy for him to blend in without any products on.
"The makeup and clothes that make KISS so recognizable also allowed them to have separation between when they were 'on' as celebrities and when they were leading private lives," she wrote.
However, Cher being popular as ever, her fame did interfere in their intimate outings at times.
"He’d want to go out with me as regular Gene," she mentioned, adding, "He didn’t want to put on his persona when we went on dates, but he didn't want to appear to the public as his private self."
The Believe hitmaker also mentioned Simmons’ “interesting” transformation into his KISS image as soon as he put on his demonic makeup.
"When I'm in my costume I might get crazy and not treat you the same," Cher recalled what Gene Simmons would say to her while referring to himself as "the Demon."
She did make it very clear that if he would continue to loom and growl at her while in his KISS persona, she wouldn't "put up with it," so he needed to stop.
