Guy Pearce shared his candid reaction to receiving a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the upcoming Golden Globes for performance in The Brutalist.

While speaking to The Courier Mall, Pearce admitted that he felt uncertain about the significance of awards in recognizing talent.

According to Daily Mail, he stated, “I am a bit confused, I suppose. I've seen people win awards and thought, 'Really?' And then I’ve seen others not win and gone, 'Really?'”

Moreover, he expressed uncertainty about whether his role in the period drama deserved the nomination; he acknowledged that he would be thrilled if he won.

In regards to this, he added, “I think as long as I felt like what I'd done was worthy of it. I won an award once and felt pretty positive about it because I felt like I created a character that was pretty good.”

Additionally, Pearce stars alongside Adrien Brody, Felicity Martin, and Joe Alwyn in the 2024 film, which delves into the struggles of people pursuing the American dream in post-WWII America.

In the movie, Pearce plays an American industrialist who employs a Hungarian Jewish architect, portrayed by Brody.

Furthermore, the Memento star also reflected on his Emmy nomination last year for his guest appearance on Neighbors while calling the recognition "flattering" but "pretty funny," as per the publication.

Beyond The Brutalist, Pearce recently opened up about missing out on a role in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins due to studio politics, despite his friendship with the director.

It is worth mentioning that Pearce, who starred in Nolan's acclaimed 2001 film Memento, revealed that a Warner Bros. executive opposed casting him, a decision that ended their professional collaboration, as per the outlet's claims.

The Brutalist premiered in the U.S. last month and is set to release in Australian cinemas later this year.
