Jocelyn Wildenstein, the socialite famously dubbed Catwoman, has passed away.
Speaking to People magazine after her death on Tuesday, December 31, Klein Lloyd, Wildenstein's long-time partner, said that the Swiss socialite, known for her plastic surgeries, "died while taking a nap” at the age of 84.
Calling to mind some memories of her final hours, he quipped, "We had a nice happy hour the same night, and we were getting ready for the new year, and we took a little nap just to look good before getting dressed.”
The outlet asked about Wildenstein’s cause of death, to which Klein replied by saying, "She had phlebitis."
For the unversed, phlebitis is described as inflammation of a vein, which can happen due to damage to the vein wall or a blood clot blocking a vein.
Expanding on this, the 57-year-old couturier stated, "Because of her phlebitis, the legs were very, very swollen, and the blood was blocked, and there was no oxygen in the brain. And we were having a nap, and when I woke up, I said, 'Jocelyn, we have to wake up; we have to get dressed,' and she was cold, and she was dead."
"It's very sad. It's extremely sad. It's extremely sad to lay down with your other half that I know for 21 years and wait to celebrate New Year's Eve and to find her cold,” he added.
Klein went on to clarify that Wildenstein’s phlebitis did not affect their holiday plans because her health was "perfect" just days before.
He noted, "We were at the Ritz two days ago. We were having dinner. Before that, we had come for Fashion Week at Chanel. Everything was good; everything was good."
Talking about their holiday season, he concluded by calling it "beautiful."
It is significant to mention that other than Wildenstein, her grandmother also suffered from the same disease.
