Morgan Freeman and Al Green enjoy duet on New Year

Morgan Freeman and Al Green entered the New Year on a high note.

The Oscar winner, 87, was at his Mississippi bar Ground Zero Blues Club, when he got up on stage to join the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member, 78, to perform a duet rendition of Green's 1971 classic Let's Stay Together.

The famed artists were surrounded by several instrumentalists for their impromptu collaboration.

Freeman can be identified in a white turtleneck sweater and dark jacket alongside Green, who sported a white button-down shirt and green patterned blazer for the night, per footage shared to social media.

"I'm so in love with you / Whatever you want to do / Is alright with me / 'Cause you make me feel so brand new / And I want to spend my life with you," the two stars can be heard singing the night away with the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping hit.

Freeman posted photos from the performance to X and wrote, "We ushered in the New Year with Al Green and Kingfish at Ground Zero last night. Happy New Year, everyone!"

Ground Zero Blues Club was opened in 2001 by co-owners Freeman, Eric Meier, Howard Stovall, and the late Bill Luckett, per the venue's website. The club intends "to celebrate the area's rich blues heritage and to provide a venue in which it can continue."
