King Charles has sent a personal letter to Coleraine resident, Margaret Peacock.
For 40 years, Margaret has organised Christmas Day dinners for elderly and lonely. This year, despite the challenges she hosted the event at Rathain Fold, supported by a team of volunteers and generous local donors.
Margaret expressed her gratitude to all those who contributed, saying, “without them, the day wouldn’t have happened,” as reported by Northern Ireland World.
She also expressed surprise on receiving recognition for her milestone achievement from King Charles.
“I was then surprised by a greatly supportive letter from HRH King Charles III. Unknown to me, my niece Alana had informed his office of our 40th anniversary celebration,” Margaret shared.
She added that Charles thanked her “for continuing a tradition I started all those years ago, and stressed that 40 years is a great milestone for service in the community and he extended his best wishes to all our guests” in the letter.
Margaret, who has attended prestigious royal event, including the King’s Coronation and a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, went on to say “that is a letter I will treasure, along with my invitation to the King's Coronation which I was privileged to attend, as well as being a guest at last year's Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.”
