'Wicked' actors Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are friends?

Cynthia Erivo’s connection to Ariana Grande goes beyond ‘Wicked’, a 2024 film that stars the two women. ⁠

⁠Ever since the movie released in November, fans are asking about the nature of relationship between the pair.

Speaking to ELLE UK, Cynthia Erivo answered the question: “We cultivated a friendship, outside of all of this, that allows us to have these real, deep connective conversations that join us as friends and sisters.”  “We sit on FaceTime for hours.”⁠

⁠Cynthia added, “We are also really protective of each other. It’s real. Take it or leave it.”⁠

⁠In another interview on ‘The Drew Barrymore,’ she spoke about her “physical connection” with Ariana. "We walk hand-in-hand very often," she said. 

"I think we [society] assume that physical connection can only be romantic. It is how we need to communicate. And I think we don't give enough credit to how we communicate with our friends physically."⁠ 

For fans who are wondering why Cynthia Erivo shaved her head, she did that to ensure that her hairline and the face paint used to turn Elphaba green would look flawless on camera.

Though she could have used a hairnet as the Broadway actors do, Erivo decided to go one step further and decided to shave her head.
