The police have arrested an ex-staff member at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel for allegedly providing Liam Payne with illegal substances before his death.

Taken into custody outside of his residence in Buenos Aires, Braian Nahuel Paiz is facing up to 15 years of incarceration, according to reports.

News of his arrest was confirmed by his lawyer Fernando Madeo Facente to People.

Paiz was employed as a waiter at one of the hotel’s restaurants, and has denied his involvement in the pop star's death.

He had previously revealed to a local news outlet Telefe Noticias that while he had not brought drugs for Payne, the two had shared drinks and taken substances in the singer’s hotel room.

“They’re saying that he was not under the influence before getting to [CasaSur] but the reality is that he was already on drugs. In fact, he didn’t eat,” he claimed.

Paiz added that when they had come together for a second meetup on October 12, Payne had requested that the former provide him with his drug dealer’s contact information, to which he complied.

He insisted that he had limited himself to taking weed while the former One Direction member was on cocaine, “We spent the night, we did drugs together and something intimate happened.”

Paiz is from the first person arrested in connection with Liam Payne’s death, he is actually one of five taken into custody this week.
