Jeff Baena, a renowned screenwriter, film director, and the husband of Aubrey Plaza, has tragically passed away at the age of 47.
According to the report of TMZ, Baena died by suicide, and law enforcement sources told the outlet that an assistant found his body at a home in the Los Angeles area around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025.
As soon as his body was discovered, the director of the Horse Girl movie was pronounced dead at the scene.
For the unversed, Baena, who was born and brought up in Miami, went to study film at New York University and relocated to Los Angeles following his graduation to start his career in the world of entertainment.
On the professional front, the late director holds a dozen directing and film credits to his name.
His most notable work as a writer included a 2004 film, I Heart Huckabees, which starred Jude Law, Naomi Watts, and Jason Schwartzman.
Shortly after, Baena made his directorial debut by directing and writing a horror comedy film, Life After Beth, in 2014, starring his now wife, Plaza.
It is noteworthy to mention that Baena and Plaza tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown, but they announced their marriage in May 2021.
