Writer and director Jeff Baena has died, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Baena, 47, was the husband of actress Aubrey Plaza.
According to the local media Baena died at his home in Los Angeles on Friday.
Referring to a report in TMZ, PEOPEL reported that law enforcement sources told the outlet that he died by suicide.
According to CNN, his cause of death is listed as deferred on coroner records.
Baena is known for co-writing the acclaimed 2004 film “I Heart Huckabees,” which featured Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin, and for writing and directing the 2016 dramedy “Joshy” starring Thomas Middleditch.
Baena is survived by Plaza, his parents and stepparents, along with several siblings.
The tragedy struck Aubrey Plaza a day before she was to appear at the Golden Globes ceremony as one of the presenters.
