Nov 3 steps 'result of consultation': Pervez Musharraf
ISLAMABAD: Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf Sunday said all the steps adopted on November 3, 2007 were result of a consultation process, Geo News reported.

According to the content of a statement recorded with police authorities whose copy was obtained by Geo News, Pervez Musharraf said he stands by the televised speech aired on the evening of November 3, 2007 in which he declared a state of emergency in Pakistan.

At that time, the former military dictator said, a democratic government was functioning under a prime minister and a cabinet. “All of my steps were aimed at betterment of the country,” he claimed.

Pervez Musharraf is presently in detention at his Chak Shehzad farmhouse which was declared a sub-jail by the administration following his 14-day remand ordered by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Saturday morning.

Authorities handed over the control of the sub-jail to the administration of Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, and to law enforcing agencies with the direction to provide extraordinary security to the sub-jail.

The Adiala Jail officials, headed by a deputy superintendent, had already taken over internal control of the farmhouse before shifting Pervez Musharraf there.
