Ariana Grande recently shed light on Wicked sequel, titled Wicked: For Good, which is set to release this year in November.
In an interview with Variety, Grande seemingly teased that the highly anticipated film adaptation that will explore the bond of Glinda and Elphaba, played by Cynthia Erivo, even more deeply.
“But we’ll talk about it more in-depth in movie two,” the 31-year-old actress, who plays Glinda the good witch in the movie, said.
According to the Don’t Look Up actress, Glinda and Elphaba’s relationship is “platonic”.
While giving insight into her thoughts on Glinda’s sexuality, the singer-actress said, “I think she’s a person who loves so much, and I do think that it goes beyond gender, and I think that’s a common theme in OZ.”
Grande added, “I also think that the ways in which she loves Elphaba so much, and in that forgiveness and that unconditional love that they share –– I think they’re in love with each other.”
Apart from Ariana Grande, the fantasy adventure also stars Erivo in the leading role.
The Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo starrer has been directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Winnie Holzman as well as Dana Fox.
Wicked: For Good, is scheduled for release in November 2025.
