Muhammad Amjad Pervaiz, Advocate Supreme Court, has refused the offer to become a judge at the Lahore High Court after LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum recommended 21 names for the prestigious positions.
Speaking to Geo News exclusively, the senior lawyer said that he had declined to become a judge at the high court due to his "busy legal practice".
He noted that he had informed the registrar's office about his decision in writing. "I want to devote more time to legal practice," he added.
The advocate's reaction follows the proposal of his name for the vacant judicial posts in the Lahore High Court.
Besides Pervaiz, the LHC chief justice also proposed names of other 20 lawyers, including Siddique Awan, Chaudhry Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Asif Saeed Rana, Ajmal Zahid, Abdul Basit Baloch, Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom, Aamir Ajam Malik.
Furthermore, advocates Shireen Imran, Waqar Haider Awan, Asad Mahmood Abbasi, Shahzad Mahmood Butt, Ahsan Raza Kazmi, Khalid Ibn Aziz Jawad Zafar, Khalid Ishaq, Malik Owais Khalid, Chaudhry Sultan Mahmood were also recommended for the posts.
