Expert reveals real reason behind Meghan Markle's unexpected Instagram move

Meghan Markle sent the internet into frenzy after she made a social media comeback with a playful video on her new Instagram account.

However, fans and critics of the Duchess of Sussex were left disappointed after they noticed that she has disabled comments on her video in which she could be seen celebrating new year.

According to a PR expert, Meghan took the decision to disable the comments in order to "protect her mental health" from online criticism and hate.

As per The Express, celebrity PR expert Ed Hopkins said that the Duchess made the "savvy" move to create a more positive space for herself and her followers.

Meghan has been a victim of significant online backlash ever since she started dating her now-husband, Prince Harry.

The expert said Meghan wants to "protect her mental health and reduce the risk of harmful or negative interactions.”

"From a PR perspective, this decision isn't necessarily about avoiding engagement, but rather about protecting her mental health and reducing the risk of harmful or negative interactions, which can be all too common on social media platforms,” he added.

"It’s no secret that Meghan has faced a significant amount of online criticism in the past, and by limiting public commentary, she’s likely seeking to create a more positive and supportive space for herself and her followers."

Hopkins continued: "Ultimately, the key here is balance - Meghan is likely looking to protect her peace while also sharing meaningful moments and causes with her followers.

"As we’ve seen from other public figures, taking control of one's digital environment can be a savvy and empowering move."
