Prince William to bear the brunt of King Charles' latest decision

Former US president Jimmy Carter will be laid to rest on January 9, with several heads of states expected to attend his funeral.

According to the British media, King Charles' younger brother Prince Edward is set to attend the funeral on his behalf.

The monarch last  year chose Edward's wife Princess Sophie to represent him at the state funeral of former Italian president  Giorgio Napolitano

The Duke of Edinburgh also undertook a visit to Turkey to meet President Recep Tayyip Erdogan last year. 

Some media reports suggested that it was the king and the British government's decision to send Edward on the diplomatic mission. 

It was happening when neither King nor Kate Middleton were diagnosed with caner.

Edward's foreign visit were used to criticize Prince William, who is heir to the king. 

According to the king's supporters, Prince William couldn't care less about the royal engagements as he prioritize his wife and children over his duties.

The Prince of Wales is often called a "lazy" royal by  the supporters of King Charles and it's highly likely that William would again receive backlash for being absent from Jimmy Carter's funeral.
