RuPaul just paid tribute to The Vivienne.
Taking to his official Instagram account, he mourned the loss of one of his iconic show stars and the victor of the first series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK in 2019.
“With a broken heart, I join the entire Drag Race universe in mourning the loss of The Vivienne—an incredibly talented queen and a lovely human being,” he wrote in his precise yet heartfelt tribute.
The Vivienne was first appointed as the UK drag ambassador in 2015 for American reality television series RuPaul's Drag Race and was 32 years old when he passed away in January 2025.
According to a statement issued by his agent to BBC, The Vivienne "died over the weekend" with his family restraining from breaking any silence over the details of his sudden demise.
Previously, the show’s official social media pages also posted a note, expressing sorrow over the tragic loss.
“We are currently processing the deeply sad news of the passing of James Lee Williams, known to many as The Vivienne. We are fiercely proud of The Vivienne’s achievements, including winning the first ever series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. Right now our thoughts are with their family and friends, the Drag Race sisterhood and their many fans,” the post read.
