Earlier, it was announced that Batman Part II had been delayed. Its director, Matt Reeves, has now shared an update about the shooting.

Speaking to Deadline at the 2025 Golden Globes, the filmmaker said the filming will begin in 2025.

“I can tell you that we’re gonna be shooting this year, and that we’re excited about it,” he said.

Matt did not share any specific start date for production; however, the comments seemingly sparked the speculations after the multiple delays in making the sequel to rest.

In a separate interview, Matt told Comic Book that the sequel will pick events from the first film, “What I’m excited about is I feel like we’re doing something that absolutely continues where the story came from, but is something that I hope people are going to be really surprised by.”

In other news, James Gunn, the head of DC, called Batman his favourite character and explained that he has "big plans" for the Caped Crusader.

“Listen, I gotta tell you, I just love Batman, I love him! I've loved him since I was a little kid," he continued.

"He's one of my favourite characters. I have gone on the record in the past when I was at Marvel saying, 'My favourite character is Batman, I love him,'" the filmmaker added.

“We're going to do great things with him, he's the most popular superhero in the world and I can't wait for people to see more of him, along with Superman and together,” James concluded.
