Kat Dennings reflects on key role as child artist

Kat Dennings made a guest appearance in Sex and the City at the age of 14. Now, nearly 15 years later, she shared an anecdote that would surprise some.

In an interview with The View to promote her new sitcom Shifting Gears, the Marvel actress went down memory lane after being asked about her earliest role in the comedy-drama series.

“It was very interesting because, of course, I wasn’t allowed to watch Sex and the City as a child,” the 38-year-old revealed. “And we didn’t have cable even, our family, so, I really had no idea what the show was.”

“I auditioned for it. I was like, ‘What a weird show. What a weird title,’ ” the Thor star remembered. 

“And then on the way home, on the train, we saw a building — like, a Sex and the City billboard across the whole building.”

In the show, Kat played Jenny Brier in the season 3 episode Hot Child in the City as she looked back on her role impact, saying, “After I did that and I walked into, like, The Gap in Pennsylvania, people were like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Jenny Brier! Like, give her the employee discount!’ ” she noted. “I was getting discounts.!”
