Catherine turns 43 with a new lease of life, overcoming the ‘curse of mankind'

The future UK Queen is easing herself into Royal duties following preventative chemotherapy that continued for nine months.

After the year that Kate Middleton had, it is no surprise that her 43rd birthday has rejoiced her family (and Britain) in miraculous ways.

The news of her cancer first broke in March 2023, when the Princess of Wales suspiciously vanished from the public eye after an abdominal surgery.

A few weeks after she marked her 42nd birthday, the mother-of-three announced that she had been diagnosed with a form of cancer. While the news had shocked the public as much as it had shattered the Princess’ young family, Kate seemed vividly hopeful about her health condition.

Since then, the earth has completed its full circle around the sun, and Kate is now cancer-free and has a fresh chance at life.

After nine months of preventative chemotherapy, the future Queen is easing herself into Royal duties. Experts, however, suggest that Kate has a newfound meaning towards life as she pledges to live her coming days with a fresh purpose: prioritizing her children—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

It is not surprising that eversince her cancer diagnosis, Kate has become one of the most popular Royal Family members in the country.

In a survey by YouGov, ‘three quarters of Britons (76%) say they have a positive view of the Princess of Wales, up six points since the start of the year.’

To mark the milestone that Kate has achieved in the past year, Geo News took the opportunity to walk around on the streets of London and ask Britons of their opinions on the Princess’ remarkable recovery.

James, a retired business professional, 60, noted: “No one wants cancer, it’s the curse of mankind. My wife has recovered from the disease and I pray everyday that it never comes back. My wish is the same for Kate- stay cancer free.”

A local salesman, Darren, added: “I’m happy for her. We’re all glad that she is okay. We were worried for a minute but I’m happy she is past it.”

Amidst Kate’s difficult year, she found special support in her family, especially husband Prince William. The future King stood tall for his wife and helped her navigate through one of the toughest phases of her life.

“It’s fantastic news that she is cancer free. She had been doing poorly. William is a fantastic partner. He helped her when she needed the most. That’s how a good husband should be,” added Gill, a marketing professional, 37.

Sania, a 29-year old local school teacher, continued: “I think it speaks volumes about their relationship. William has been with her throughout this journey and it is good to see such a stable couple together.”

Cancer Research UK suggests ‘every one in two people in the UK develop cancer at some point in their lives.’

Although some cancers are highly treatable, the word itself creates a fear of mortality and has an emotional weight for everybody who is afraid of losing a loved one.

While the Princess of Wales is still fragile after her intensive cancer treatment, this birthday comes at a poignant time. It’s a chance for her family to spoil her rotten, switch things up and welcome new traditions to make her day all the more special.
