Cher confirms her official driver's license name

Cher has revealed a shocking detail about her driver's license.

During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Cher was asked what is the name listed on her license.

The singer said, "I don't have a last name," sharing that her name on driver's license is simply "Cher."

"I had to go to court, they give you a special dispensation or whatever you call it. You have to prove that someone could know you, like the populace could know you by that name. It’s not easy," Cher added further.

Moreover, Cher revealed in her memoir Cher: The Memoir that her full name was "Cherilyn" until she decided to make it official by removing the last name.

"I believed Cherilyn was my name until the day years later when I decided to legally change my name to simply Cher," she wrote in the memoir.

The songstress also shared about her personal life in the memoir. However, her second memoir, which will cover more of her incredible life, is set for release in 2025.
