JoJo Siwa faced backlash on social media after sharing a video of herself packing “essential” belongings, including her expensive, bedazzled outfits, while preparing to evacuate her Tarzana mansion during the Los Angeles wildfires.
The video, shared by her Australian girlfriend Kath Ebbs, revealed JoJo packing items like her iconic stage costumes, including a black bodysuit from the 2024 iHeart Radio Awards and a bedazzled high-visibility jacket, into her car.
Meanwhile, Kath, who also confirmed their relationship for the first time in the clips, poked fun at JoJo’s choices, saying, “Things my girlfriend packed in case of a fire evacuation.”
In regards to this, viewers criticized JoJo for focusing on material possessions during a devastating natural disaster.
One of the users commented, “What about the people losing their homes, families, and pets?” while others labeled the content “tone deaf.”
Additionally, JoJo defended her actions, by explaining, “It’s not work; it’s just irreplaceable. This is my BOOMERANG costume. It’s my entire life!”
According to Daily Mail, the couple ultimately didn’t need to evacuate, as Kath confirmed in an update on Thursday morning.
However, the wildfires have caused significant destruction in Los Angeles, including the loss of several celebrity homes near Topanga State Park.
JoJo’s Tarzana property, currently listed for $3.95 million, lies across from the affected area. The home, purchased by the star in 2019 at the age of 16, has been on the market for weeks, as per the publication.
