'Shrek 5' film gets devastating update

Shrek 5, a hit animated upcoming movie, got an upsetting update regarding its release date.

The DreamWorks Animation movie’s release date has been pushed back to December 2026, according to New York Times.

The upcoming film, which will be directed by Walt Dohrn, was originally due for release on July 1, 2026.

However, now, it will be released on December 23, 2026.

Co-directed by Brad Ableson, Gina Shay will produce the film alongside Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

Moreover, Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy will reprise their roles for the next instalment in the franchise, which will be released 16 years after the fourth film, Shrek Forever After.

Talking about the upcoming film, the movie producer told Variety in an interview, "We anticipate the cast coming back.”

“Talks are starting now, and every indication that we've gotten is there's tremendous enthusiasm on behalf of the actors to return,” Chris added.

Chris, who has also worked on The Super Mario Bros. movie, said, “It's not that dissimilar to the process that we went through with 'Mario', where you look at what the core elements are that audiences have loved, and you do your very best to honour those core elements.”
