Eric Braeden, known for his decades-long role on The Young and the Restless, has been left devastated after losing his Pacific Palisades home.
The 83-year-old film and television actor took to his official Instagram account on Wednesday, January 8, and informed his followers about his decision to evacuate his house of 45 years to the raging L.A. fires.
While giving an interview to Entertainment Tonight on Friday, January 10, he told the outlet that he visited his burning residence to see the remnants.
As Eric saw it completely burnt down, he got emotional and cried, saying, "45 years, man. I didn't think it would hit me this much, man."
"I'm devastated, man. I'm devastated. All the memories. I don't want my family to see this. Boy, obviously you've seen a lot of coverage on television over the last few days, and I never imagined this. I didn't imagine this,” the Titanic star added with pain.
Eric went on to reminisce over some memories of his home, such as hosting parties for up to 250 guests.
Then he stated that he understood what others going through the same loss must be feeling by articulating, "It's such a feeling of loss, man. It's indescribable. It leaves you totally disoriented."
Moving forward, the interviewer asked what he and his wife took while evacuating, to which The Rat Patrol star replied, "We didn't think it was going to come here because she had called the emergency. Someone said, 'Don't worry about it. The wind is driving everything toward the ocean.'”
“So we did not reckon with it coming here at all. That's why we lingered on and only then really packed the last hour," Eric Braeden concluded.
